Since the inception of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), the UBA cell at IISER Thiruvananthapuram has been actively conducting various programmes and enthusiastically participating in the development process of the villages adopted by the Institute through collaboration with the local self-government authorities. The active participation of the student volunteers and other stakeholders helped the cell to bring a threshold to the development activities in the villages. The institute has conducted various programs in villages under the banner of UBA. Being a Regional Coordinating Institute of UBA, IISER Thiruvananthapuram has been providing active assistance to the Participating Institutions for the effective implementation of UBA program in 140 villages in 4 districts of Kerala.
CARE has widened its focus towards different socio-economic/environmental domains to keep it sustained for the future generations. Being a Regional Coordinating Institute, the team has kept active contact with the Participating Institutions to coordinate and channelize the development process effectively. Over the last one year, CARE has tried to augment the quality of education, sanitation, health and hygiene and drinking water facilities in the adopted villages. CARE has ensured the expansion and sustainability of the programs in future by having an alignment with the government and non-government organizations.
